We are excited to announce that Wilderness Horse Camp will be held at Cornucopia, gateway to the Eagle Cap Wilderness for the summer of 2013. Wilderness Horse Camp starts out in our sturdy, rustic base camp above Pine Creek where you will get acquainted with your fellow campers. New this year to our base camp is the addition of a hot water shower, three canvas wall tents with wooden floors, and, as always, spectacular scenery!

Also new this year is booking incentives. All return horse campers get a $50 discount. Early bookings paid in full by April 1st also receive a $50 discount.

This year, Wilderness Horse Camp will be conducted as a resident camp. Each day we will saddle up and head out into the mountains then return to base camp at night for some rustic cowboy cooking. Taking overnight trips will depend on the skill and group size of each camp, nights will be spent gazing at the millions of stars the fill the sky every night.

Your first day will be spent getting to know your fellow campers for the week then being paired up with a horse perfect for your skill level. After everyone gets to know their new four legged friends we'll hit the trails for the first time.

Mornings are spend making hearty breakfasts, saddling up and learning some things along the way, then exploring the beautiful sights of the Eagle Cap Wilderness area. We'll spend hours in the saddle riding through a variety of landscapes, from granite mountaintops to lush valley floors. We will even find some mountain meadows to canter in!

When we return from our ride we'll brush down our horses, feed them some hay, then spend the night eating dinner and playing games. Don't forget to bring your swimsuit so we can splash around in Pine Creek or take a dip in some high mountain lakes. Campers can also take afternoon hikes with our counselors, do arts and crafts, try their hand at archery, or maybe take a bareback ride.

Wilderness Horse Camp is still roughing it, but adding some comfort things like a hot shower! All in all, it adds up to an awesome experience. So join us for the summer adventure of a lifetime!

Bring a friend plan: If horse camper signs up a friend to go to horse camp, the horse camper gets a $50 discount.
